Many members have been expressing to TTA leadership that school board members seem aloof and/or distant, and rarely reach out to teachers for input, especially in these times. Although it is true that the school board has the authority to reopen schools when allowed by the county, and has tremendous impact on a teacher’s professional environment and student lives, they are often viewed as disconnected from the classroom.
